YOUR GUIDE

Your professional guide for the trip, Captain Jim McWhorter, is the owner and sole operator of Catch A Memory Charters. He is a Florida native and has caught everything in the Gulf waters in the past 30 years, from large sharks to exotic snapper. Your guide is licensed as both an inland and deep sea charter captain, but is most excited about the Gulf's sport fishing action offshore from Sarasota.

Captain Jim tries to make every charter worth remembering, whether you are experienced, a first-timer or a youth. He is patient and wants his fishing trips to be fun and affordably priced. His goal is to leave you with a memory of hooking that really big one. See our customers and their awesome catches on the Recent Photos page.

The guide for your adventure is also a skilled photographer. He uses digital photography and software to create quality fishing memories for every customer, hence his company's name, Catch A Memory Charters. You get a great photo memory with your special catch… for free!

The top priority of the captain is the safety of his customers. Captain Jim avoids fishing on days with rough seas or inclement weather... Every customer has a backup date. His Grady-White boat is Gulf seaworthy with twin engines. Onboard safety gear exceeds Coast Guard requirements. The boat is always within cell phone or VHF radio range since we fish within sight of land. The American Red Cross has also certified your guide to apply basic first aid and CPR, if needed.

Jim and spouse Bonnie have been married for over 30 years and are proud parents of two great daughters. After a career in management and fishing on weekends, he opted for his dream lifestyle in 2003 and opened
Catch A Memory Charters in his beautiful hometown of Sarasota, Florida.
